An already injury hit County Upper team took on a strong Chelmsford Lions U16 team at the weekends as they saw in the 2017 – 2018 season. Although up by three points at half time a cold 3rd quarter allowed the host to take control of the game as CU came away on the wrong end of a 52- 77 score line.

County Upper were lead in scoring by Josh Hales with 14 points and supported by Luca Beadle and Brandon Marshall with 12 and 8 points respectively.

County Upper will be next in action this Saturday as they take on Southend Scorpions away in Southend.

Coach Johnson had this to say about the game: Starting the season missing two key players is not really the way we would have liked to start, but we still did a good job in taking the game to Chelmsford early on. There was two times in the first half where we were up by 6 and 9 points, but unfortunately we were unable to sustain this momentum as Chelmsford came out fighting in the 3rd quarter. Loosing Patrick Laycock in the 4th quarter due to injury is another blow for our team as he plays a significant role we are hoping that he will not be out for too long”.
