Men VS Essex Rebels. East Conference. D3 National League
County Upper Wolves hosted Essex Rebels this weekend in what turned out to be a very close game.
From the jump, both teams worked hard on defence and continued to trade baskets. The score being 21-17 at the end
of the 1st quarter.
The second quarter County Upper took the lead behind the lethal sharpshooting of Phil Ennis-Bugg, scoring a season
high 15 points in this contest.
The third quarter would see a more physical and competitive play with neither side giving the edge. Both teams pouring in
15 points each leaving the score at 48-47 going into the 4th.
Aiden Saunders came out firing in the 4th quarter, putting the team on his back to try to seal the victory. With a strong
move to the basket, he passed the ball out to Phil Ennis-Bugg in the corner for a huge 3 pointer that would ignite the home
sides crowd. Giving the hosts a 73-70 lead with 30 seconds left.
Late game foul trouble would be the downfall for the Wolfpack, causing several players to foul out. The
young Rebels side would capitalize on this and go on a last-minute run to win the game 74-73 in what would be a
heart-breaking defeat for the men’s side.

U16 Boys VS Southend Scorpions. East Conference. National League
County Upper Wolves U16 boys played Southend Scorpions on Saturday, with a final score of 58-71 to the Scorpions.
Although the Wolves played an improved game at home, with a tighter defence which helped to keep the Scorpions points lower than their previous game, they were still outplayed on the day.
Lewis French continues his lead as top scorer with 24 points, while Freddie Harris finished with 12.
The boys next play at home to Cambridge Cats II on Saturday the 11th January with a 5:15 pm tip.
