Men VS Northamptonshire Titans
The County Upper Wolves men’s team hosted the
Northamptonshire Titans this weekend in a top of the
table clash that was sure to produce an entertaining
Both teams would battle back and forth in the 1st quarter
with neither side able to take the upper hand, however it
would be the hosts that finished the quarter up 30-28.
The Titans came out fighting in the 2nd quarter going on
fire behind the arc and dominating the boards on the
offensive end. Scoring 39 points in the quarter, the
visiting side would go into the break 67-49.
The Wolfpack struggled to claw their way back into the game as both teams continued to trade baskets. A 4th quarter surge led by Aiden Saunders helped erase
the deficit to 15 points however it was not enough as the
home side suffered their first defeat of the season 118-
“I wasn’t happy with our2nd quarter we were too laid back
and against a good experienced team like Titans, they
made us pay for it. However, I was pleased with how we
fought and showed some heart in the 2nd half. We have a
lot to work on this week in training as we have a quick
turn around against Anglia Ruskin”.

U18 Girls VS Haringey Angels U18 National Conference National League
County Upper took on Haringey Angels at home for their second game of the season and played strong on both the defensive end and offensive end of the floor helping them to a 71 – 56 win.
It was not an easy win though as Haringey came out strong in the first and second quarters as the home team only won the first two quarters by 2 points per quarter allowing them to hold a small 4-point advantage at half time 34 – 30.
However, in the third quarter County Upper decided to turn things around both on offence and defence as they dismantled the visiting team by 25 points to 11 points opening up an 18-point game 59 – 41. The last quarter saw both teams trading baskets as CU took the game.
County Upper was led in scoring by Lizzy Sanders with 26 points and supported by Grace Spooner and Kayleigh Brown who both had 14 points each.
County Upper are next in action on the 14th December when they take on the Haringey Angels away in London.
U16 Boys VS Thurrock Hornets East Conference National League
County Upper Wolves under 16 boys won away to the Thurrock Hornets this weekend with a final score of 79-84.
While County Wolves had a strong start, the Hornets kept the pace up to bring themselves level. The Wolves held their nerve and fought back to clinch the win in the last quarter.
Once again Lewis French was Wolves main scorer with an impressive 39 points, while Christian Kwakye finished with 12.
Hoping to make it their fourth consecutive win, County Wolves play at home on Saturday 7th December with a 5:15 pm tip.
U14 Girls VS Northampton Titans South Conference National League
This weekend, County Upper won a hard-fought game against the Titans team (71-68)
It was quite a close first quarter, but County Upper didn’t make the most of their scoring
opportunities and ended down by 6 (10-16). Moving into the second, County Upper started scoring more frequently, however, Titans also picked up the pace. By the end of that quarter the score was
After half time, County Upper’s defence stepped up and effectively shut down the Titans. This
helped the girls win the third quarter by an impressive 21 points and put County Upper in the lead
(53-44). The crucial fourth quarter started in start-stop fashion, with lots of County shots not going
in and Titans tight on the rebounds. The Titans clawed back the deficit and scores were briefly level.
However, County Upper regrouped and pulled through, winning a close match by 3 points.
County Upper were led in scoring by Esther Cushing with 20 points, Polly Cailes with 18 points and
Violet Jones with 17 points. Once again, it was a great team performance overall.
U14 Boys VS Cambridge East Conference National League
The U14 boys travelled to Cambridge to face the cats in
what would certainly be a very intense top of the table
clash. Both teams start the season with 4 wins and 0
losses and looked to extend their undefeated streaks.
It would be Cambridge that took the lead early,
dominating in the 1st quarter led by some very strong
teamplay that proved difficult to guard for the Wolves.
Cats lead after the first quarter 18-7.
Following some changes at the break by Coach Elliott,
the hungry Wolfpack team would come out firing. This
time the visiting side would lead the quarter 18-7 leaving
the score at 25-25 going into halftime.
It would be County Upper big men leading the charge out
of the halftime break. The ball being pounded inside to
Tai Causton and Ethan Rodgers, as they continued to
make strong move after strong move, leaving the
Cambridge players with no answer.
The surging visiting side would continue their fine play
in the 4th quarter backed up by two big 3 pointers by
guard Callum Ironside who has been on fire behind the
arc all season.
The game would finish 56-43 and the County Upper
Wolves would improve to 5-0, sitting on top of the U14
Boys Conference East table.
