Four County Upper Basketball Academy programme gain spots on three East Regional teams

Three girls and one boy from the County Upper Basketball Academy programme gain spots on three East Regional teams and will play in the National Regional Tournament.

I’m proud of the achievement made by these four players, its not easy to make it onto the East team, but through their own dedication and help from our coaching staff these four

Grace Spooner and Jemima Kent gain spots on the U15 East of England team while Anna Cartwright and Charlie Smyth gained a spots on the U13 East of England teams.

Grace Spooner is no stranger to the East of England regional pathway having played for the U15 team a year young as well as representing the East of England at U11’s and twice with the U13 team.

Jemima Kent has also been involved with the East programme during her career having represented the East with the U11 East team.

Anna Cartwright represented the U11’s East of England team last year helping the team win the National Regional Tournament.
Charlie Smyth breaks into the East Regional ranks for the first time having taken some huge steps this year with his development.

All these players started off by coming to our basketball programme because they enjoyed our sport, it is so rewarding to see our programme turn their like for our sport into a success, and to see these young athletes progress up the performance pathway developing them into one of the top ten players in the East of England for their respected age group team. If there are young players out there who have a like for basketball I would like to hear from them as I am sure through our 5 youth teams we could cater for them and who knows maybe they too can follow in the footsteps of these four players.
