COVID-19 SEASON UPDATES

COVID-19 SEASON UPDATES

We are sure most of you are aware of the national increase in Coronavirus cases throughout Britain since the new school year begun. Due to this some restrictions have been made going forward into the basketball season. We knew this season was going to be a strange one, but not without our Men’s and Women’s teams! Basketball England recently announces that senior team- like our West Suffolk Wolves Mens and Women’s teams- leagues will not take place this season, in hope to reduce the spread of Covid-19; “Senior competition at NBL Division Two, NBL Division Three and WNBL Division Two cannot currently take place” quoted from the Basketball England website.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Training sessions are still taking place for both of these teams despite the season cancellation. However despite this loss, everyone elses season is going ahead… fingers crossed anyway; 2020 is disastrous!

OUR COUNTY UPPER ACADEMY TEAMS?

And for our U19 boys academy team, Basketball England and the Government have been discussing back and forth debating whether their leagues are going ahead.. The decision was based on their involvement in the educational setting, meaning the boys league will go ahead. The same for our U19 girls team in the AOC league.

Please note that this is a very unpredictable process. Lots of discussions are taking place on the daily to try prevent chaos. Please stay active on our social media for any future updates regarding our season and conoid-19! You can do so on our club and academy Instagram pages @westsuffolkwolves and @countyupperacadmey .
