Over our 12 year history, our programme has helped 42 players receive an athletic scholarship in America, of which 4 players continued to play on professionally… In order to help educate our youthful West Suffolk Wolves club players, as well as our County Upper Academy players about the success of our system and basketball outside of England, Head Coach Johnson will be interviewing current County Upper alumni as well as other coaching friends. This will help enlighten players on Coach Johnson’s past and his experience, as well as an insight to playing overseas in the USA through the Instagram Live discussions. By publishing our discussions with current college athletes will help inspire those who wish to be one. ‘What’s the main difference between English and American basketball?’ ‘What advice would you give yourself if you were a freshman again?’ ‘Why did you want to play basketball in America?’

Instagram Live is a feature on Instagram Stories that allow users to video stream to followers. When users broadcast live video streams on their accounts, a ring highlights their profile picture in Instagram Stories to alert followers that they can view the live stream. You can stream with more than one user which is what we will be doing to perform an interview like situation virtually with our selected guests.

Coach Johnson, as humble as he is, has had a very successful career. From coaching at the NCAA D1, NCAA D2 and NJCAA University levels in America to coaching professional teams in the United Kingdom and Europe, on his travels he has formed connects and relationships within the Basketball industry. Some being: Nick Nurse (current head coach of the Toronto Raptors), Doc Rivers (current head coach of the LA Clippers), and Donni Nelson Jr (current GM for the Dallas Mavericks). Through these live streams Coach J is looking to share his knowledge as well as reflect on his successes in the basketball industry.

Our first live stream of the ‘County’s Catch-ups’ series, begins on Friday the 2nd of October and will be a reoccurring event taking place on the West Suffolk Wolves Intragram account @Westsuffolkwolves . Our first interviewee to set the standards high will be the famous County Upper alumni, Bradley Day who is currently in his second year at Des Moines Ares Community College. With Coach Johnson as the host, we will be finding out about what life is like being a college student athlete in the States, his first season as a freshman winning the Region 11 Championship, as well as the ICCAC Conference Championship and much more!
