With County Upper putting together a full team for only the 3rd time this season the home team put on a very confident performance showing themselves, the team and the coach how talented this group of players could be as they beat Essex Rockets II 91 – 35.
A strong defencive and offencive first quarter set the tone for the game as County Upper locked up Essex Rockets II only allowing them to score 2 points the whole quarter, while scoring 29 points of their own.
In the second quarter Essex Rockets woke up slightly putting 13 points on the board, but were unable to stop County Uppers offence as they conceded 25 points. Leading into half time CU lead by a score of 54 points to 15.
In the second half CU began to give a lot more minutes to their younger players as their offense continued to put pressure on the Essex Rockets. With CU posted 18 points and Essex managing to put 12 points on the board County Upper increased their lead to 45 points 63 – 27.
Starting the 4th quarter County Upper were able to continue to put pressure on the Essex Rockets scoring 19 points as well as continuing to play solid defence allowing the visitors to only score 8 points.
County Upper were lead in scoring by Josh Hales with 31 points and supported by Luka Beadle, Patrick Laycock and Brandon Marshall who scored 25, 13 and 10 points respectively.
CU will next be in action on the 26th November when they take on Shoeburyness at home.
County Upper U14 Boys VS Essex Blades National League East conference.
In a game that went back and forth during the first half, CU managed to pull away in the second half for a great 85 – 65 win at home.
The first half was a very close in counter with both teams going back and forth and neither team able to break away, with the 1st quarter buzzer going CU took a small 2 point lead into the second half 20 – 18.
The second half started with both teams trading baskets before County Upper broke away off the back of a 7 – 0 run and go 29 – 22, but the Essex Blades responded closing the game to just 4 points 31 – 27 midway through the quarter, but finishing strong CU put together a 12 – 2 run finishing the quarter up 14 points clear leading into half time 43 – 29.
The second half started much the same as the first with both teams playing great defence and offence as they continued to trade baskets throughout the quarter with CU finishing by increasing their lead to lead by 15 points leading into the 4th quarter 65 – 49.
The last quarter was also a fight as both teams went back and forth against each other and with County Upper taking the advantage with 22 points to Essex Blades 16 points.
CU was lead in scoring by Corey Moye and Anthony House who both had 16 points and supported by Ethan Doward and Tom Roberts with 13 and 12 points respectively.
CU are next in action this weekend when they take on Ipswich II team away.
